According to research done by many leading academic the idea that Christians were been persecuted by Rome, until Emperor Constancy legalized Christianity and himself convert to Christianity, is a piece of fake history, written up by the Catholic church.
In reality, Christianity was never been persecuted against in ancient Rome. The Emperor even once wrote to regional governor that Christians should not be persecuted against, due to their religion believes. However, during the Roman time, people believe, in sacrificing animals to the gods, so the gods would forgive them for their sins. Otherwise, the gods would send plague and because people were more superstitious during those days, people take things like these literally, so speaking out against animal sacrificing, was been consider as a threat to the state and can cause a person to be executed. But Christians believe Jesus have already forgiven all of men's sin past and future via his death, so there are no need for animal sacrifice and some speak out against it, as a result, according to Roman law, those people were executed.
Also, Rome disallow private gathering due to fear of revolt, but some Christian choose to conduct Sunday gathering in private, causing them to be arrested.
Anybody who conduct private gathering or speak out against animal sacrificing, is consider a threat to the state, it is not limit to Christians.
In the 5th century, the Roman Emperor Constancy, as a political tool to secure his power, he firstly, claim legalization of Christian, a religion that is already legal. Constancy, secondly, also made Christianity the state religion. Once done that, Constancy thirdly, created the Roman Catholic church and made himself the first pop of the Catholic church. And finally, Constancy order for all people to convert to follow the Catholic church. Anybody who refuse, were executed against, including Christians. Many historians point out, more Christians are been executed during Constancy reign, then any other Roman Emperor. Constancy also order, began the long standing tradition in Europe, to accuse people of been witches and execute them, it begin as an excuse for Constancy to use the Catholic church, to execute his political opponents and educated that can be a threat to his power. Modern historians now credit the beginning of the dark ages to Constancy.
Since then, the Catholic church started a long standing tradition, of playing the role of the Christian version of Taliban and ISIS. Starting off with the Crusades and Inquisition and just like the Taliban established their own version of religion law and force it upon others, the Catholic church frequently did the same, even in modern era. In the 20th century, the Catholic church ally with like minded government, to persecuted against unwed mothers, enforcing the law throwing unwed mothers into Catholic prison for life (without trial) and confiscated the child from the mother. The women serve life in prison. These are all because, in the Catholic church's version of Christian religion law, it is illegal for a woman to be an unwed mother.
During the 20th century, the Catholic church also kidnap women from other countries that don't enforce the law of the Catholic church, but conduct behaviour that are illegal in the law of the Catholic church. These women was been send to Ireland and force to spend an entire life, serving a prison in the prison of the Catholic church. This remain until the IRF, finally overthrow the British rule over Ireland and abolished such law and free the women. Ironically, today, it is the Republic of Ireland formed by the IRF paying compensation to these women, rather then the Catholic church.
